Specifically, the study answered queries on the profile of the respondents with regards to the age, civil status, estimated monthly income, number of children and educational attainment. It determined the relationship between profile of the respondents and the level of knowledge on breastfeeding. The study adapted a descriptive method of research. A researchers' made questionnaire was utilized. The respondents of the study were the pospartum mothers of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center admitted within October 2009. The researchers utilized the demographic profile of pospartum mothers in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center as the respondents of the study. The data will be collected through distribution of questionnaires. Data was then analyzed and collated for statistical treatment. And finally, a proposed teaching plan was conducted based on the results obtained and interpreted. There is no significant relationship between the profile of the respondents (age, civil status, estimated monthly income, number of children, and educational attainment) and their level of knowledge on advantages and proper techniques in breastfeeding. In the gathering of data, the researchers first seek permission from the Dean of the College of Nursing, the Chief Nurses of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center to conduct convenient survey to the respondents. But prior to the actual survey, a pre-testing was conducted at Visayas Community Medical Center dated September 29, 2009 to ensure the validity and accuracy of the data in the questionnaire. After the pre-testing, the questionnaires were administered to the respondents through closed coordination with the staff nurses in the said hospital. The respondents were given ample time to answer the questionnaire and the questionnaires are subjected to statistical treatment of data. Then, a final draft will submit for finalization and corrections. The level of knowledge and skills of the pospartum breastfeeding mothers of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center has been noted to be generally poor. However, demographic profile of the respondents such as age, civil status, estimated monthly income, number of children and their educational attainment has significant relationship towards their level of knowledge and skills. Therefore, the age, civil status, their finances, number of children and their educational background influence and major factors on their level of knowledge and skills about breastfeeding. Based on the findings above, the following conclusions were drawn to wit: The breastfeeding mothers of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center has poor knowledge on the benefits and advantage of breastfeeding, however, mothers has average level on skills to perform breastfeeding and generally the level of knowledge and skills is remarked as poor. Their demographic profile influenced or developed their knowledge and skills on what is breastfeeding is all about. The study distinguished that there is significant relationship between age, civil status, estimated monthly income, number of children and educational attainment on their level of knowledge and skills on breastfeeding. The following recommendations are suggested which are anchored on the results of the study: 1.Animated audio-video on advantages and techniques in breastfeeding: 1.1 Produce original DVD audio-video animated production. 1.2 Application of copy right to the National Library. 1.3 Proper packaging. 2. Distribution of the original DVD. 2.1 Distribution to different hospitals, especially to the Vicente Sotto Medical Center. 2.2 Distribution of the DVD to the different schools and university. 2.3 Distribution of the DVD copy to the Barangay health center ER -
