The study ascertained the level of work performance of the subjects in handling operative procedures. the anchor theory utilized was White's Competence motivation theory which started that individual's behavior is motivated by his desire to manipulate and control his environment. The study was conducted in affiliating areas of the College of Nursing of the University of Cebu- Banilad where students were rotated in the operating room namely Chong Hua Hospital, Visayas Community Medical Center and St. Vincent General Hospital. A survey questionnaire composed of seventeen statements were then utilized by the supervising clinical instructors using the response parameters: very competent, less competent and needs improvement. The demographic profile result revealed that majority of the respondents belonged to the age bracket 20 years old and were mostly females. The results revealed that the senior nursing student were very competent enough in terms of transporting patient to operating room, assisting patient to operating room, assisting patient in proper safety positioning,strict surgical asepsis techniques, proper surgical hand washing, function as circulating nurse, relationship tot he surgical team and collaborating plan of care with other member of the team while there were competent in terms of obtaining patients information and assessment, providing needed nursing intervention, monitoring vital signs, preparing surgical instruments,checking with the completeness of the instruments used and observing proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous.
