In every stage in his life, there are processes he needs to fulfill. He grows and becomes used to perform activities of daily living and able to know his self-perception and self-worth. We cannot deny that the aged then becomes a burden to his family due to problems and issues arising on who's going to take care of them. This would be the difficult experience for the elderly and to his family. So many questions that is difficult to answer. Through brainstorming and curiosity, the researchers came up to this study on the level of independence and self-esteem of the elderly in performing activities of daily living, on how they view their self-worth and their family. He grows old, his physical and mental functions begin to deteriorate. There would be a continuous decline that he may not be able to do simple task which would depreciate his self-worth in life. In this stage in his life, man needs the assistance and care of individuals and depends on them for their existence. Dorothea Orem's Self-care Theory is the central concept theory of this study.
