This research aimed to know the effectiveness of the manipulatives in learning fractions. Fractions were the focus of the study since students fin this topic difficult. The research was conducted at the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus. The participants of the study ware the forty (40) first year Bachelor of Elementary Education students enrolled in Math 100 during the first semester of academic year 2018-2019. The said participants were selected using cluster sampling technique. The research used only one single group for the study. The topics taught in the group were discussed with the aid of manipulatives. Pretest and posttest were conducted to the participants. The findings showed the majority of the participants were 18 years old, mostly females and more than half of the participants came from private schools. The performances of the participants during the pretest were mostly poor. After the intervention, a posttest was conducted which revealed that majority of them got excellent performances. There is a significant difference between the scores of the participants before and after utilizing the manipulatives in solving fractions at 0.05 (5%) level of significance. Therefore, the utilization of manipulatives in learning fractions was effective.
