Significant relationship between the students profile and their level of vocabulary proficiency and the factors influencing the vocabulary proficiency of the students was also determined. This study utilized the descriptive-correlation design in determining the students vocabulary proficiency. Forty Bachelor of Secondary Education students participated in this study using the purposive sampling technique. A researcher made tool was used in the study. The students were asked to fill out the students profile form, answer the vocabulary test, and tool for the factors influencing vocabulary skills. The researcher used simple percentage, weighted mean, and chi- square test of independence in analyzing the data. The findings of the study showed that majority of the students were generally poor in vocabulary in terms of antonyms, definition of terms, and meaning in context. In addition, the results revealed that there was a significant relationship between the students profile and level of vocabulary proficiency as well as the internal and external factors that affect their vocabulary. However, it was concluded that English teachers should engage the students in different activities in vocabulary to improve their skills. Thus, a proposed remedial reading program is recommended.
