Tracer study of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduates for S.Y. 2014-2017 / Fervi B. Kwek and Zandro S. Guillo.

It shapes the society in terms of social, cultural, economic and fundamental development. It is vital that the curriculum be strengthen that it would uphold and augment livelihood and job opportunities for the nursing students. This study unswervingly determined tracer study of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing students for S.Y. 2014-2017. The findings of which served as basis for a program level intervention plan. This study utilized a descriptive design using simple random sampling with the use of standardized tool by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). There were 114 randomly selected respondents. Statistical treatment utilized simple percentage to analyze the data on the profile of the respondents and ranking to interpret the statistics that necessitates multiple responses. Out of 114 respondents of the nursing graduates of University of Cebu College of Nursing S.Y. 2014-2017, majority of the alumnae were female nursing students who passed the nursing licensure examination; professionals; from region VII; living in the city; presently employed with regular status working locally. The major reasons of the respondents in talking the undergraduate course were far job opportunities abroad and a strong passion for the profession. The reason for some nursing graduates who were unemployed was the absence of opportunities. The line of business of the companies were the respondents are currently employed belong belonged to the health and social work sector. Salaries and benefits were the main reason respondents were accepting jobs and at the same time staying on it. It was the same motivation that the respondents were changing jobs. The majority of the nursing graduates stated that their first job was related to their course and they got job details via recommendations from other people. The length of stay of the mainstream of the respondents in their job is from a year to less than three years. The job level position was ranked and file. The initial monthly earning the first and current job between 10,000php. Self- Motivation was the soft skills learned by the majority of the nursing graduates. Experience on the other hand, was the hard skill that was learned and applied by the nursing graduates in their job was health and quality nursing care. The respondents also agreed that the nursing competencies that were learned in college were relevant to their current job.
