Lots of studies have found that habitual breakfast eaters tend to be leaner, but that doesn’t mean eating breakfast is what causes to be lean. In fact, most studies do find that skipping is results in lower all calorie consumption during the day though it may also lead to being less active and burning fewer calories. Skipping breakfast has been found to have adverse effects on cognitive functions (including memory), academic performance, school attendance, and psychological function in both children and young people. Due to missing breakfast a state of hunger is created. Hunger can be defined as physiological and psychological food intake to meet up instant liveliness need. When a physiological need is not satisfied, a negative state of tension is created; when the need is satisfied, the drive to satisfy that need is reduced and organism returns homeostasis. This study determined the effects of skipping breakfast to the student nurses in a university. The findings served as the base of the proposed action plan. The researchers utilized quantitative descriptive co-relational research design and using a researcher-made questionnaire. The 256 respondents of the study were student nurses and selected through random sampling. The findings of the study revealed that skipping breakfast was prevalent 3 to 5 times per week. The majority of the respondents felt weak, came to school late, got headache, felt fatigue, hands were shaking/ trembling, felt sleepy and dizzy, cannot lift the patient if needed, commented errors in charting and too lazy to do their assigned task in terms of physiologic aspect. The respondents often forgot task given, irritable, felt bored during endorsement, didn’t have any interest in interacting with their patients, easily got frustrated, cannot participate, cannot focus in the classroom, got low score during exams and difficulty recalling previous discussion in terms of psychological aspect. The data gathered showed that there was a significant relationship between the frequency of skipping breakfast and its physiologic and psycho logic effects. The researchers recommended for future researchers to conduct a more sensitive study regarding the effects of skipping breakfast to among student’s nurses, and to implement the proposed action plan.
