520 _aSummary: This study determine the collection of solid wastes and garbage disposal practices among residents in an urbanized area. This study was managed using a descriptive correlational design using researcher- made questionnaire. Two hundred fifty copies of survey forms were distributed to the residents in the area with questions that pertains to the respondent's profile, their methods of collecting solid wastes and garbage disposal practices. The data were analyzed using simple percentage formula, weighted mean, and chi- square formula. The result of the study revealed that females were engaged more in the survey with ages 34-41, were mostly high school graduates, with a 5-14 number of years of residency in the barangay. The residents strongly agreed that gathering solid wastes everyday was significant in order to maintain the cleanliness in their vicinity. It was also revealed that the majority of the respondents avoid throwing their wastes materials in non- designated areas to avoid paying the violation fee. Furthermore, it was apparent from this study that there was a significant relationship between the respondent's profile, which included their age, gender educational; attainment and the number of years of their residency in the barangay with their methods in collecting solid wastes and garbage disposal practices. The researchers concluded that the respondents' method os collecting solid wastes conformed with the policies of segregation in their barangay and majority of the respondents strongly disagree in illegal garbage disposal practices. Recommendations involved the utilization of the proposed action plan and as basis for future researchers to focus on the methods and practices of waste segregation and evaluation of compliance to the scheduling of the collection of solid wastes materials.
