The study aimed to assess the safety practices done by healthcare providers in elderly homes by analyzing and deciding whether there are still deficits in older adults' safety practices. This study utilized a descriptive-correlational design. A researcher-made questionnaire was used for a data gathering, The respondents were the employees, caregivers, healthcare provider-volunteer, and private patient sitter working in four elderly homes in Cebu. Statistical treatments used for the study were frequency and simple percentage, weighted mean score, and Chi-square test. The data was analyzed, interpreted, and presented in tables. Based on the study's findings, the safety practices rendered by the healthcare providers in elderly homes regarding fall and trip preventions, medication error preventions, infection control, physiologic, emotional, and psychological practices were all highly practiced. Thus, the study concluded that healthcare providers in elderly homes assure the elderly for a living condition free from any harm or risks to their physical, physiological, emotional, and psychological being. Despite the positive results, gathering information about the elderly's past psychiatric history remained moderately practiced. Healthcare providers must assess and evaluate the patient's history to further improve healthcare services and support. The findings served as a basis for a proposed action plan. | ||
