520			_aCrime prevention in the Philippines, especially in urban centres like Cebu, is essential due to the increasing incidence of crimes such as pickpocketing, carjacking, and violent attacks. The Philippine National Police (PNP), guided by Republic Act No. 8551, is responsible for protecting lives and property while ensuring public safety and effective law enforcement. Nonetheless, for crime prevention to be truly effective, there is a need to transition from conventional policing methods to a more community-based approach that encourages active involvement from both residents and local organizations. Although numerous studies have explored various strategies for preventing crime, there is limited understanding of how residents perceive these initiatives, an essential factor in evaluating their actual impact. This study seeks to bridge that gap by investigating the views of residents in Barangay Mambaling on crime prevention strategies with the goal of enhancing public safety.
