520			_a"Bakeries play a significant role in local culture and the economy by producing fresh bread and pastries. However, the operations of these businesses pose challenges related to waste generation, which can harm the environment if not properly managed. As there are growing concerns about environmental impacts, bakeries must adopt sustainable waste management practices. Hence, this study aims to determine the waste management system of selected small-sized bakeries in Barangay Banilad, Basak, Cabancalan, Canduman, Casuntingan, Centro, Opao, Labogon, Looc, Manguikay, Mantuyong, and Paknaan in Mandaue City, Philippines. The result of this study will serve as the basis for formulating the proposed waste management guide. This study applied the descriptive research design and was conducted at selected small-sized bakeries located in Mandaue City, Cebu. The total sample size was forty-six (46) small-sized bakeries, and the respondents will be the employees of small-sized bakeries. The questionnaire was divided into three (3) parts. A Cronbach's alpha value of 0.88 indicated that the researcher-made survey questionnaire was reliable for final administration. Weighted mean and T-test were used for data analyses. The researchers adhered to the ethical principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and autonomy throughout the study. The findings show that the selected small-sized bakeries in these barangays were less practiced in their waste management system in terms of solid waste and liquid waste. The respondents reported that the bakeries in Mandaue City assessed to a moderate extent on waste management system that leads to waste reduction and control and environmental sustainability. However, a significant difference was found in the waste management system of small-sized bakeries and the extent to which it leads to waste reduction and control and environmental sustainability. This suggests that small bakeries can improve waste management by working with respective barangays to implement comprehensive waste management policies and regulations, along with the help of a waste management guide provided for them." --Abstract
