520			_a"This study explores the economic diaries of sugarcane planters in Anonang Norte, Bogo City, Cebu, with the aim of understanding their experiences during both farming and non-farming seasons. Using a transcendental phenomenological approach, the researchers conducted in-depth interviews with ten agrarian reform beneficiaries to analyze their production, milling, and sustainability challenges. Key findings revealed that sugarcane farming is deeply affected by environmental conditions, logistical issues, limited financial resources, and fluctuating market prices. Despite these challenges, planters implement adaptive strategies such as efficient crop maintenance, third-party hauling, and diversified income sources. Grounded in the Theory of Transaction Cost Economics, Resource-Based View, and the Economic Theory of Supply Chains, the study highlights the importance of minimizing transaction costs and leveraging unique resources for increased profitability. The results offer valuable insights for policymakers, local government units, and agricultural stakeholders to design targeted interventions that enhance the sustainability and resilience of the sugarcane industry.
