Each part contains learning objectives and list of references to aid criminology and criminal justice practitioners, students, and researchers in finding related topics from other sources thereby enhancing classroom discussions. This course is one of the subjects under Crime Detection and Investigation in the Licensure Examination for Criminologists as identified in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order Number 05 series of 2018. The contents of this book were based on the CHED summary of topics and the Table of Specification issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The book includes the description and explanation of the nature, effects, causes, ethical and moral issues, legal provisions, and jurisprudence of vices such as, but not limited to, smoking, drinking alcoholic liquor, gambling, prostitution, and other vices. It also contains the brief explanation of the procedures and/or legal provisions of drug operations by PNP, PDEA, NBI, and Customs on surveillance operation, information gathering and collection, drug intelligence and investigation, raid, buy-bust operation, arrest and search, detention and rights of persons in drug cases. Similarly, topics on the chain of custody of seized drugs, evidence required in the filing, and successful prosecution of illegal drug-related violations are included. Likewise, the discussion on the salient provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Law, other relevant and related laws, relevant issuances of the President, Dangerous Drugs Board, and other law enforcement agencies, including drug rehabilitation programs and a national strategy against drugs and other prohibited substances are discussed in this book. Lastly, it includes the discussion on the forensic chemical testing for drugs and some cases or jurisprudence on drugs cases. —Preface
