520			_a"General Psychology with Values Development Lessons 1997 is the third edition of the book published in 1984. All the editions are intrinsically a study of human and animal behavior. The new book has preserved all the substantial contents of the first and second books and has added a lot more especially on the more modern theories and findings culled from results of studies and experiments. One of these is the new findings on the pluralistic view of intelligence. All these abilities work together when an individual has a problem. Another concept included in the new revision of the book is the recent disclosure on genetic engineering that includes test-tube invitro-fertili-zation and cloning. Another feature of the book is the presentation of the Moral Recovery Program of the government concentrating on strengths and weaknesses of the Filipino character in the hope of improving the Filipino. In addition, attitudes of the Filipino adolescents towards smoking, drinking, and drugs are included. Of course, the Values Education thrust of the Depart-ment of Education, Culture, and Sports has been retained. The General Psychology course, being behavioral in na-ture and essentially a required course for practically all college students, has been identified as one of the best, if not the most appropriate vehicle for values education. The General Psychology students will undergo the valuing experiences in the 15 lessons of the book. In effect, through the integration of values development, the goal of psychology which is to control and modify human behavior, will be better and more naturally achieved in order to make the individual student best serve himself and others in a just and humane society.
