Principles of Organization and Management for Senior High School is designed to introduce students, particularly those pursuing the Accountancy, Business and Management track, to the basic principles of management. It examines the very foundation of handling people, structuring the organization, and running the operations of different functional areas from the perspective of a manager. This textbook has been prepared in accordance with the prescribed course curriculum of the Department of Education (DepEd). It is divided into three units. Unit One has two chapters. The two introductory chapters serve as a springboard or a mechanism that prepares and conditions the minds of the learners in managing a business firm and its environment. Specifically, these chapters define management, analyze significant theories, and classify managers and their roles, among others. Unit Two has five chapters. The entire unit discusses the five functions of management, namely planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling. These management functions co-exist and are interrelated with each other. Unit Three has two chapters. The two concluding chapters clarify the concept of management from the level of the functional areas of the business to the principles of running the affairs of a small family business. It also discusses the process of establishing a small business and the legal requirements needed to do so.
