520 _aSummary: Writing skill is one of the skills that most students neglected. The researchers' main goal of this study is to identify the level of writing proficiency of the 2nd year BSED-English majors as well as the factors that affect their writing proficiency. The researchers also investigated if there is a significant relationship between the students' profile and their writing proficiency and the factors affecting their writing proficiency. This study utilized the descriptive-correlation design in determining the writing proficiency of the 35 students taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English. The students were asked to sign a student's profile form to collect the necessary information about the students in relation to this research and were asked to participate in the writing test. The researchers asked for the help of the professor specializing in writing to identify the level of writing proficiency of the respondents. They also make use of the simple percentage in analyzing and interpreting the profile variables of the students; weighted mean in determining the writing proficiency, and the factors that affect the writing proficiency of the students and Chi-Square in determining the significant relationship between the students profile variables and their level of writing proficiency. Findings showed that majority of the students were good in writing in the second language though there were still few that lack the proficiency in the writing skills. The researchers believed that this problem needs to be immediately addressed through various enhancement activities that require critical thinking and broaden students' imagination in a creative way. Thus, they proposed an intervention plan that could possibly enhance and develop the writing capabilities of the students.
