520 _aSummary: While women's right in the Philippines have continued to develop, women discrimination in the workplace is still prevalent. The Constitution, legislation binding international commitments guarantee equality of treatment to woman. However, between the letter of the law and its implementation is a gap that can only be bridged through the formulation of a framework which serves as a guideline to reinforce the ability of the private sector to end women discrimination in the workplace. This paper examine both local and international laws that provide for women's discrimination. It will also examine the status of women discrimination in the Philippine private sector. The paper is a qualitative research confined to library research and content analysis. International laws and instruments recognize and reinforce the formulation of policies against discrimination based on sex. Moreover there are also adequate laws in the Philippines that address women discrimination. However, there are still exists women discrimination in the private sector. In addition, there is no adequate framework which serves as a guideline to reinforce the ability of the private sector to end women discrimination in the workplace. Hence, there is a need to formulate a Magna Carta of women in the private sector focusing on women empowerment as a mechanism towards the elimination of women discrimination in the Philippines, particularly in the private sector.
