520 _aSummary: Waste management is the discipline associated with the control of generation, collection,and disposal of solid wastes in a manner that is in accord with the best principles of public and environmental health. The study assessed the practices and effectiveness of solid waste management program of Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City. This study was done due to an increasing number of garbage-related problems present nowadays. This study utilized descriptive correlational research design. There were 83 residents who served as respondents of this investigation using researcher-designed research tool. Statistical treatments used for data analysis were simple percentage, weighted mean, chi-square test of independence,and Pearson R momen tof correlation test. Majority of the respondents were 31-40 years old,female,high school level, residing 50-100 meters away from where the garbage were collected and was not able to attend a seminar on solid waste management. There was a significant relationship between the gender of the respondents and their practices on solid waste management. Solid waste management program was practiced in some instances among the residents, despite the fact that they find the solid waste management program as effective. Thus, the researchers recommended to implement those practices which are stipulated in the solid waste management program of the government. They also intend to forge collaboration with the various sectors in the community to maximize participation and desirable outcomes.
