520 _aSummary: In the 21st century, learners are being surrounded by machines which are very helpful as they made the lives of the people better. In mathematics classrooms, calculators are among educational technologies which maximized students learning potential. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using the scientific calculator in learning contemporary mathematics of the University of Cebu- Banilad campus of the school year 2017-2018, the first semester, to craft an intervention scheme which is entitled " Scientific Calculator Workshop" in the said department. The researchers employed quasi-experimental design. A researcher-made questionnaire was being used for data gathering. This study was being conducted at the University of Cebu- Banilad in the College of Teacher Education where the participants where the selected students who were being enrolled in contemporary mathematics. The participants were identified using cluster sampling, and 40 students were being chosen. 20 of them were the experimental group, and the other 20 students were the controlled group. They underwent six class sessions. The data were collected, tabulated and subjected to statistical treatments. Statistical treatments used for data analysis were percentages, mean standard deviation, variance, paired t-test and paired t-test for an independent sample. The research findings revealed that most of the participants were females with the age of 18 years old. The researcher conducted a pre-test wherein the participants post-test scores increased after six class sessions. Thus, there was a significant difference between the performance of the controlled and the experimental group. Also, it was being revealed that using scientific calculator functions in solving the selected contemporary mathematics problems was effective.
