501 _aThesis (Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing) --University of Cebu-Banilad, 2006.
520 _aSummary: For human beings, health plays the most vital in life. Traditionally, health has had been defined as the presence or absence of disease. As mentioned by Florence Nightingale in her environmental theory, she defined health as a state of well-being and using every power the individual possesses fully (Kozier, 2004). In World Health Organization (WHO), they defined health as a state complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (Reyala, 2004). This definition reflects concern for the individual as a total person functioning, physically, psychologically, and socially, mental processes determine people's relation with their physical and social surroundings, their attitudes about life, and their interaction with others (Kozier, 2004).
