501 _aThesis (Degree bachelor of Science in Nursing) -- University of Cebu-Banilad, 2003.
520 _aSummary: Myocardial infarction is the process by which tissue is destroyed in the region of the heart that is deprived of an adequate blood supply because of a reduced coronary blood flow (www.americanheart.org, 2003). This term is used synonymously as "coronary occlusion" and "heart attack". The cause of reduced blood flow is either a critical narrowing of a coronary artery due to arteriosclerosis. Decreased coronary blood flow may also result from shock and hemorrhage. In each case, there is profound misbalanced between myocardial oxygen supply and demand (www.healthy.net, 2003).
